I could have been Straight!

Although i have been going for training at work, i end up having a blast right at the end of the weekend. It was Australian Day on Friday. I was invited to hang with Stephan and co at Hyde Park during the afternoon. It was a very nice day and everyone was out in the park. Actually i done this 3 years ago on Australian Day but i dont remember it was for this occassion. Couple of hot shirtless straight guys are out and about. Forbidden fruit!

Both Friday and Saturday nights were the usual. Stonewall followed by Midnight Shift. On Saturday night, i was feeling depress after i saw and greeted Michael. I am such an idiot trying to sort out the signal he is sending to me. Does he like me or not? That frustrate me a lot. I decided to call it a night at 1.30am because i dont want my frustration annoy people around me. Sorry, Lance.

I woke up early for an afternoon movie session with Fin. Jessica got me free tickets to see "The Last King of Scotland". I was supposed to bring someone as a date. Michael was not free (maybe he was not keen at all). I asked Fin because we have not done much other than hanging out at Stonewall. He also broke up and got back with his bf on the same day. The movie was great with a few gruesome scenes. I cant stand the scottish accent.

After work, i went to Amanda and Kim's farewell party at Mirian's house at taylor square. They are Stephan's friends. Since they are girls, i got to meet a few straight boys. One in particular, Henrik, a metrosexual Swedish hot guy commented on my belt, shirt, bag, and shoe. It was nice being noticed especially by a straight guy (Maybe he is bi!) I decided to go out with the straight crowd to King Cross since i have not been to a straight venue for a long while. Stephan and me were the only gay boys in the gang.

First stop was the Empire. Then Dragonfly. I was dancing my arse off as usual until a swedish girl hit on me. I told her i am gay. Henrik was impressed that i could have scored her if i am not gay. The quote of the night was "I will go wherever you wanna go". Henrik said that when i asked if he wanna join Stephan at Stonewall. I should have say, how about my place? Wouldnt that make things interesting?

Things Just Got Better!

Indeed. Unexpectedly, i receievd a voicemail from the company i went for interview and trial yesterday. It just made my day. I cant say how thankful i am for getting a casual job. Although it isnt anything great, i still appreciate the opportunity to work and earn something for myself. I truly do not want to live off my dad for much longer.

I also just got an email from my research supervisor today. He mentioned that the QCM indow has been fixed and will be shipped to us next week. Yay! However, i have not written the report i should have uring my 2-months break. I should get this done this weekend. Things definitely getting better. I hope my love life will pick up soon too.

Motivation Is All I Need.

This is true. My motivation to get things started is very low. I always get distracted being online. I need someone to watch over me while i get things done. I feel like a baby. Maybe all i need is to focus on someone. However, i have yet to find that person who like my full attention.

Counting backward. I met up with a cute young boy (Michael) today for coffee. Undecided on where we would like our conversation online to head towards, i proposed to meet for coffee. He is a indecisive young man. During our coffee, we both were shy and trying to make small talks. However, he did showed interest in knowing me. After we parted, i took the courage to write him a text mentioning that i think he is cute as a sign of interest and asked if he would like to do something together soon. I was actually not expecting a reply from him because i usually dont. He replied saying that it will be good and suggested next week. I guess i got myself a date next week. Yay for now!

Yesterday it was a HOT day. I only had 6 hours sleep the previous night because i went out. Stephan came over to my rooftop to sunbake while i hide at the corner of the roof chatting onlline. I am avoiding of becoming BLACK! Hehe..Later in the arvo, i went to meet this guy (Adam) that i been chatting to for the past few days for an icy drink. He chatted me up one night on Gay.com and we had a very decent conversaton. We still do. I didnt realise it was the guy i have checked out before during my night-outs or walking in the city. What a small world! He reminded me of Seth Green. We talked about Malaysia a lot. However, i am not sure where will this head. Friendship perhaps!

As for the night, i went to see Madeleine Peyroux at the State Theatre. The country-blue opening act from Melbourne was a dump. He was putting me to sleep with a headahe. How is that possible? Fortunately, the sound of Madeleine has saved the night. The band and her were absolutely fantastic. I was smitten by the French jazz songs she sung. How i wish i can cuddle up with someone in the theatre. I think the concert could have been better if they play at the Basement. It will be more intimate and cosy.

The most exciting thing that happened to me during the week is the job interview and trial. I am hoping they give me that job. Although it is just some job at a call-centre with low pay, i still find it exciting enough. I pretty much need the cash anyway. Fingers crossed but it has been 3 working days since my trial. Sigh.

My Trip in Melbourne

Night 0/Day 1
Everyone thinks i am insane to take a bus down to Melbourne. Due to the short of cash and extra time i have, i am willing to take a nearly 12 hours return bus trip to Melbourne. The bus ride was smooth till it stopped on the side of the highway at 7.30am. I woke up and thought we might have a flat tyre or some engine problem. Unfortunately i was right when the bus driver came back with the flat tyre announcement. He was trying to get it fixed for the past 20mins before the announcement. He mentioned that we are 45 minutes away from our destination and GreyHound is sending down another bus down from Melbourne because he can't unscrew the tight bolts. All the passengers and i were stranded on the side of the highway for 2 hours before we saw a mechanic truck arrived instead of a bus. What a bullshit! At the end, the mechanic fixed the flat tyre and we were back on the road. I reached Melbourne at 10.30am, which was 2.5hr later than the scheduled time of arrival.

The weather was fantastic when i stepped out from Southern Cross Station. I waited for Ryan, a friend from Sydney who i will be staying with during my stay in Melbourne. I was also surprised that there are more trams in Melbourne than i can remember from my last trip 5 years ago. My first activity of the day was to refresh myself at Ryans' before heading out to meet Kenneth (Danish friend) near Melbourne Central for lunch. We wondered off to Southbank and found ourself having lunch at Crown Casion food court. I had this amazingly huge and tasty hawaiian chicken burger with seasoned chips. Yum but i was so full after. Since it was Kenneth's day off. He decided to show me around. We took a walk to check out Docklands, the next harbourside area. There was this odd art piece of a cow stuck on a leaveless tree. The ground was also numbered, which runs from the stadium tracks nearby.

I also got to check out Kenneths' place at Flemington before heading to South Yarra. It was a lovely 2 bed-room townhouse in the suburbia. Of course, i was at South Yarra for Chapel Street and Commercial Road, which are renowned for shopping and gay area respectively. I decided not to go into any shops on my first day in Melbourne because i did not want to splurge yet. By the time we finished our chilled drinks at Gloria Jeans on a warm sunny day with occasionally cool breeze, it was time for dinner. We wandered back to the city to meet his boyfriend, Tomasz and Ryan for dinner at Red Tongue Cafe. The area was very Newtown-like. The caesar salad i had was average with too much anchovies. Since everyone except me have to work the next day, i decided to rest early and call it a night.

Day 2
The itinerary for the day was meeting up with Eason, a Malaysian guy who i only met once in Sydney. Before showing me around in Melbourne, we had lunch at a shanghainese restaurant. Again, nothing fantastic but just average chinese set lunch. However, the day ended up with us doing a lot of window shopping along Lt Collin St and Collin St. I took a break during midway of the shopping trip because i promised to meet a guy (Matt) i chatted from Gay.com. He took me to Section 8, a licensed cartwheel cafe in a old parking lot along a lane-way. Melbourne is famous for such quirkiness. The conversation with Matt was interesting and decent like our previous first conversation online. After that, i met up with Eason again but this time his boyfriend was with us. We had tea snack at Chilli Padi, a Malaysian cafe. I also managed to meet a few of Eason's friends (2 Muslim-Malaysian girls) from Perth at Max Brenner. It was quite interesting when some Malay words were used in our conversation. My dinner was some chinese take-away from a food court. I was invited to have a few drinks at Kenneths' before heading out. I finished his half full Swedish Christmas drink containing cognac. It was 1am when Tomasz and i decided to head out to Peel. I was told by a few friends that Peel was very interesting and fun.

I found Peel interestingly fun and trashy in some points. They have separate sections for different music and ambience (the lounge for chill-out, the trashy pop remixed for trashy dance, the house/trance style for real clubbers). For those horny gay men, they have a whole floor dedicated to cruising and sex, which is known as the back-room. I spent most of my night out dirty dancing with Tomasz and his friend, Sam to the trashy pop music. It was already 5am ish when i crashed at Tomaszs'.

Day 3
I woke up having a slight hangover and a desire for greasy unhealthy food. After refreshing myself, Ryan suggested we should take a walk around the botanical garden and along the Yarra river before we end up wasting the perfect day outside. The garden was far more better than Sydney's. The river bank was the perfect spot for barbecues and picnics. By the time we finished the walk, our stomachs were crying for food.We headed to Southbank and i got myself parmagina chicken snitzel with salad to satisfy my hangover desire. I decided to ring Brad, a Sydney friend that just recently moved here. We all met up at a bar along the river at Southbank for a few drinks in the late afternoon. It was very nice to spend the day like such after a night out especially we got to cruise on the hot bartender, Paul from Germany.

The highlight of the night was more drinks and dancing at various clubs. First off, it was Exhange at 9.30pm. The drag show was fantastic with fabulous boys as back-up dancers. We also complimented a very cute boy. We told him that he looks like Ashton Kusher. He then replied that Ashton is hot and he himself is not. We told him we definitely think he is. His smile just lighten up the room and me. I went all shy and looked away for a moment when Brad was doing the talking.

Next stop, it was the AussieBum show at Market. It was like Arq in Sydney but with a nice lounge to chill on the second level. How can you miss such a show? Hot guys in hot trunks! I then went to Peel with Kenneth and Tomasz after, leaving Brad and Ryan behind.

Day 4
It seemed like a routine that i came home to Ryans' in the morning from Kenneth & Tomaszs' again. Ryan and i planned to hit the beach and stroll along the market at St Kilda if the weather was good. It definitely was and i spent my first half of my afternoon there. The next half involved swimming in the pool, spa and afternoon nap at Ryans'. This night i was craving for pizza and Ryan brought me to Smokehouse at South Yarra. They are one of the best pizza i ever had. Very unique pizzas they had. Tandori chicken with yogurt. Weird mix, isnt it? I think it was a perfect way to spend a sunday minus the crap service at the cafe we did lunch.

DAY 5
After catching up with Matt over morning coffee at a cafe on a laneway, it was time to shop! Shop! Shop! Shop! I hardly had any cash left in my bank account when i bought everything i had my eyes on. Little collin street to Collin street to Crown Casino to Chapel street. Thats where i went for my shopping. I was very pleased with my shopping but i wish i have more cash or maybe not. Hehe..

By the time i knew it, i was leaving Melbourne. I am missing everything Melbourne has to offer. I will be back.

Going down to ....

Victoria, of course! That's where this hunk comes from. I am taking my chance and see if i come back with a hunk myself. Kidding..Well, the last time i was in melbourne was 5 years ago and hence another visit is due. I hardly remember much about melbourne except some fanstatic shopping, Salt club (where Madison Avenue filmed her music clip) and Crown Casino (where i won hundred in 5 nights). Those big flames shooting up in the air along the riverside was briallant while we having a fanstatic meal at Crown. It was winter too.

Summertime in Melbourne. Here i come.

Passport to....

I just have to note my comment on Malaysian Government services. Slow as a turtle. I sent my passport to the High Commissioner for Malaysia for renewal. I requested the non-microchip passport which i have been told by the staff that it will takes only several weeks. I was shocked and impressed that i will be able to get it so soon. However to my disappointment, i received a letter of confirmation from the High Com. stating that it will take approximately 8 weeks to process it. I couldnt really care less or more about it since i dont really need the passport so soon.

As we are approaching the chinese new year (I might be heading back to Kuala Lumpur for the occasion), i still have not receive my new passport. Hence, i rang them last Thursday to check on the status of the process. The lady had to take my number and told me they will ring me back tomorrow. Tomorrow? Cant you do it now or later and get back to me? Today i decided to take the intiative to ring them again as i didnt get any call from them on Friday (expected). Finally got through to someone who can look through the system (or file cabinets coz i dunno what they are using and it took like 3-5 mins) while i am holding on the other end of the phone. Apparently it is all done and ready. Why cant they just send it earlier? Inefficient i would say.

Sydney Gay Life

After spending 4.5 years in sydney especially the sydney gay scene occasionally, i am tired of it and find it a total bore. I think this usually applies to every major city when you spend a period of time living there. On the first Friday night of 2007, i didnt really feel like going out drinking or dancing especially along Oxford St. However, i ended up meeting this guy, Jackson from the gay online community and having a drink with him at a bar before heading off to Oxford St to meet his friends. He is only 19yo making me feel so much older. I wasnt sure if we clicked for more. Anyhow, it is always good to have more friends.

After rejecting the invitation to Havana Club (a straight club) with his friends, i bumped into my flatmate and friends at a coffee house. We got into talking about the love life of a single.

D: How long have you been single?
J: 3 years.
D: Why do you think you been single for so long? Do you think there is something wrong with you?
J: Dont ask me, ask the guys i dated. I would like to think i am fine.

The conversation sumed it up. Why do people think there is something wrong with us being singles after a period of time? I know that a lot of singles are looking out for their great love but we just couldnt find a match. Most of the time, the guy dont find us as their potential partner. Love always is a two-way street. Nevertheless, gay guys have high expectation and hence make it harder to pair up a match. Am i happy being single? Yes and No. Yes because i dont have to oblige to anyone or commitment. No because i feel lonely sometimes and want to give my attention/love to someone.

Year of 2007 Begins..

On the first morning of 2007, i woke up feeling great about the day and year ahead. Although it rained in the morning, it didnt stop me from celebrating the day of a new year. I eventually got myself to Maroubra Beach for Chris's friends, John & Morris's BBQ. It was a Bali-themed BBQ but i do not owe anything thats asian-krafty patterned like a batik or sarong. I just go as my usual self in the destressed RELIGION tee-shirt from last night, casual Industrie 3-quarter shorts and my thongs (flip-flop, rubber slippers or whatever you call them). The sun was perfect when i reached their place. We were hanging out in the backyard of the cafe shop that John & Morris owe. It was a very nice backyard decorated with Balinese style. You could have guessed that they love Bali. Even though the BBQ party was a poor turn-out, some interesting guys turned up.

I decided to head home for a nap before Homesexual at Sublime, Darling Harbour as i was kind of tipsy from the bubbly that i had. It was my first Homesexual, which was Hawaii-themed this time around. I recently bought a trunk that i have been eyeing on at Myers during the boxing day sales. Hence, that was my outfit for the night. I usually would not wear skimpy clothings out at a party/in public unless it was the beach/pool but i decided to be daring and different in the year of 2007. It was a great party because the music was exceptionally my kind of music and i was in a very good mood for party. The crowd was the usual bunch; twinks with fat tummy, drag queens in outrageous outfits and heels, muscley guys with attitude, fag hags that love the gay men and a few heterosexual men that like the attention from gay men. Some of them were good eye-candy but nothing took my attention because they all look the same with their shirts off or in skimpy clothings. By this, i meant their body drew more attention than their own face. I do like men with good body but what grab my attention is men with great smile and eyes. The word of the night was "BITCH" because i admired how Davyd, my flatmate told a woman in her 30-40's off. She was a snob because she did not gave way to us when we are going down the stair. We were on the left side when we are going down as she was coming up our way. We could not move further left and she just stood right in front of us waiting for us to move back or give way. She then heard davyd called her a bitch when she got through us. She was furiously and wanting to confront him. I was quick enough to put one hand on the wall to stop her from getting to davyd. I thought it was funny and i saved Davyd from a catfight.

The End of 2006.

2006 has officially ended. What can i remember of the year, 2006?

1. My best friend's graduation and engagement in Christchurch, New Zealand. I can't wait to be in her wedding though. It will be one of the day i look forward to.

2. My family and best friend flew in for my graduation. They have not visited since i started my 4-years undergraduate education in UNSW. I am glad that i managed to survive the whole tertiary battle. It was not as bad as it seems. I had my moments that i enjoyed, hated and regreted during the process.

3. Moving into the city was a great deal for me as i had been staying around the university ground for the period of my undergraduate studies. The convenience of shopping in the city and being part of the city makes life a little more exciting.

4. My friends who believed in me and has always been there when i needed them. Throughout the year, i have established a little group of friends, who i enjoy talking to and hanging out with. I really appreciate my friendship with them.

5. A better X'mas and New Year's Eve celebration. Although i do not celebrate X'mas myself, i thought the idea of having people who you care about, together is nice. People that i care are all over the world during this X'mas season. However, i still had a nice and proper dinner at home with some lovely bunch. Nothing beats a good dinner party i reckon. In regards to NYE celebration, i think i have mentioned to a few people that my previous NYE celebration in Sydney, which was my first, was totally screwed. I hated that night. Nevertheless, i got invited to a lovely dinner party at Xiong's home. The picture on the left is me having a glass of wine at his. Even though i didnt get a chance to have a proper catch-up with him, it was nice to see him again. The night could not have been better as i also got invited to see the fireworks from a office block at Circular Quay. The view was amazing and so was the fireworks for me as it was my first.
